San Antonio Spurs' playbook in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves ran longer than usual for a team that typically relies on spacing, drive-and-kick - and that's usually what happens in the playoffs. The game slows down, the opponent's defense - certainly Minnesota's - gets sharper, and you need more triggers to manipulate the defense.
The defining story of the night was Victor Wembanyama, who finished with a phenomenal 39 points on 13-of-18 from the field and 3-of-5 from three. He did everything: screening in pick-and-roll, cutting downhill to generate rim pressure, pushing the pace as a ball handler in transition, and - crucially = serving as the primary isolation option in the final possessions. That last role typically belongs to DeAaron Fox, Stephon Castle, or Dylan Harper. But Wemby was so good, so hot, that tonight he was also the man they went to when it mattered most.
Alongside his performance, the playbook featured off-ball sets for Devin Vassell and the team's bread-and-butter guard-oriented pick-and-roll actions - with Fox leading the charge.
